Amharic

The official language of Ethiopia is Amharic. It's the tribal language of the majority tribe, also the traditional monarchy. My software came today, so I am hard at work learning a new alphabet. The characters are known as Feedel. There are over 200 of them. That's 31 consonants with a separate form of each to represent each vowel sound. I'm not counting the characters for diphthongs. Since studying Korean and Hindi I've developed a fondness for learning alphabets, so I'm having fun!

Rose;
Good to hear from you. Congratulations on the pending adoption!
When you have a second, you should check out the blog of a friend of mine: http://www.babycatching.blogspot.com/

Seems like many of my friends have slowed down on the blogging front, but I especially appreciate Joanna's stories from Africa.

Hope you are well.
